The Sharks traveled to New Jersey for a mid-week faceoff against the East Division’s newest team, the Garden State Gamblers, and when they cashed out their chips, they were winners!
Eli McCarthy kicked off the scoring for the Sharks early in the first. Kingsley Solomon found him all alone in front of Garden State’s tendy. Tate Cakir added to the Sharks’ scoring in the first with a beautiful one-timer fed from Solomon. In the second, Solomon added to the Sharks’ lead with a shot from atop the left circle from James Steinberg on the power play. Kingsley Solomon then found Anthony Valeriote on the goal line, which resulted in goal number four for the Sharks. The Gamblers answered back with two goals in the second, but that was all the offense they could muster up. With 48 seconds left in the second, Tate Cakir scored a beauty between the legs shot to send the game into the second intermission up 5-2.
Tate Cakir began the scoring in the third with a quick shot over the goalie’s glove to send the hats flying. Eli McCarthy and Roberto Gamez completed the scoring for the Sharks in the third. Rhett Micallef hustled to get the loose puck to Gamez for the final goal of the game. The final score from Brick was the Sharks 8 and the Gamblers 2.
In addition to Tate Cakir’s hat trick, Kingsley Solomon had a solid afternoon tallying 4 points (1 goal and 3 assists). Colton Spavento got the win in net for the Sharks.
The Sharks are not back in action until Friday, October 16th, when they head up to New Hampshire to face off against the undefeated Jr. Mountain Kings. Puck drop is at 7pm.
