The New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings visited Long Island this weekend seeking revenge but boarded their bus with zero points.
The Sharks welcomed their families this weekend for parents weekend, and their performance did not disappoint! In the Saturday night faceoff, the Sharks struck first. Anthony Valeriote found the back of the net halfway through the first. New Hampshire tied it up and sent the game into the first intermission tied at one. But the second period was all Sharks. Thatcher Beaudoin tipped a rifle of a shot from Ethan Brown to put the Sharks up by one. 38 seconds later, Tate Cakir stuck with his own rebound and banged one home to give the Sharks a two-goal cushion. Roberto Gamez added to the Sharks’ lead, sending them into the second intermission up 4-1. In the third, the Jr. Mountain Kings answered back with one, but that was all they could muster in the goal department. With 5:42 left in the game, Kingsley Solomon sealed the victory with a power play goal. The Sharks went on to beat the Jr. Mountain Kings 5-2. Caden Wright got the win in net, stopping 21 of 23 shots.
On Sunday, Thatcher Beaudoin kicked off the scoring by burying his own rebound to get the Sharks on board. The Sharks carried their 1-0 lead into the third period until the Jr. Mountain Kings tied it up early in the period. Rhett Micallef crashed the net and managed to get one past the goalie off his backhand while falling down to put the Sharks ahead. Ten minutes later, William Ott gave the Sharks some insurance with a rocket from the point. The Sharks beat New Hampshire 3-1. Nicklas Walker got the victory between the pipes, stopping 28 of 29 shots.
The Sharks remain undefeated, sitting atop of the East Division with a record of 10-0-0. Thatcher Beaudoin’s two goals earned him the East Division Third Star of the Week.
The Sharks are back in action on Halloween, at 7:15pm in Long Beach as the host of the New Jersey Titans.
