Long Beach, NY: The Long Beach Sharks (NA3HL) Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Bernard “Buzz” Deschamps has been promoted to Special Advisor to the President during the 2020-2021 Season.
Born in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Buzz Deschamps was drafted by the New York Rangers in 1955 and spent more than a decade playing professional hockey in the United States and Canada. Buzz was well known both on and off the ice when playing for the Sudbury Wolves, Indianapolis Chiefs, Long Island Ducks, Baltimore Clippers, St. Paul Rangers and the Providence Reds. Buzz holds the single season scoring record of 59 goals with the Long Island Ducks of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Deschamps finished his playing career with the Los Angeles Blades and chose retirement after being drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1968 NHL expansion draft. He is a member of Three (3) sports Halls of Fames, including the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, the Midland Sports Hall of Fame, and the Penetanguishene (Ontario) Sports Hall of Fame. He continues to give back to the hockey community and will serve as the head coach of the Long Island Sharks 14U Premier team.
