Recap – Week of January 20, 2025

Jan 27, 2025

The Sharks took to the road this past week, first with a Wednesday afternoon matinee taking on the New Jersey Titans. The Titans were able to establish a 3-0 lead in the first 2 periods despite some strong goaltending by Kameron Ragon. JD DiTommaso got the Sharks on the board with a power play goal on a beautiful set up by Sam O’Neil. The Titans added one more late in the game for a final score of 4-1.

On Saturday, the Sharks headed to upstate New York to take on the first place Binghamton Buzz. The Buzz  took a 1-0 lead halfway through the first period.  Sam O’Neil scored a power play goal late in the period to send the game tied 1-1 into the first intermission. The Sharks had a strong second period led by another crafty goal by Sam O’Neil.  The Captain banked the puck off the goalie’s back off of a rebound while on the power play.  The Sharks now took the lead, 2-1.  Later in the second period, Sam O’Neil was able to complete the natural hat trick on a nice face off play between Wyatt Strahan and JD DiTommaso. The Sharks headed into the third period with a 3-1 lead but unfortunately with a very short bench due to injuries, sickness and suspensions, the team just ran out of gas and the Buzz’s offense finally took advantage leading to a 9-3 loss for the Sharks. Despite the final score, Turner England had a strong game in net, O’Neil had his first career hat trick and a very gutsy effort was put forth by the healthy Sharks players.

The Sharks will get back to work next week to prepare for another away series versus the Norwich Sea Captains.  The two clubs faceoff Friday at 12:15pm and then again Saturday night  at 7:00pm. Catch all the action on NAHL TV.
