Sharks open NA3HL Playoffs with win on Monday

Game 1, East Division Play-In Series: Sharks 6 vs. Bobcats 3 (Sharks lead series, 1-0) – A balanced scoring attack in all three periods led the Sharks to a Game 1 win over the Bobcats in the opening game of the NA3HL Fraser Cup Playoffs.

It was an active 1st period which saw the Sharks score three times including goals from Mark Tisdale, Xzia Fogelgren, and Enrico Bozac. Bay State countered with goals from JayVon Fogelgren and Jerzy Gus to make it a 3-2 score after one period.

The Sharks took a 4-2 lead in the 2nd period thanks to a goal from Zan Mojzer.

In the 3rd period, the Bobcats made it a one-goal game at 4-3 thanks to a power play goal midway through the period from John Rynne, but two goals later in the period by the Sharks from Matthew Anastasio and Aleksandr Gamzatov secured the three-goal victory for the Sharks.

Sharks goalie Artem Lantukh made 40 saves in the win, while Zack Roncarati made 39 saves in the Bobcats loss. Game 2 is Tuesday at 5:30pm (est) in Bay State. Should the Sharks win, they would advance to face the Northeast Generals in the Division Semi-Finals. If the Bobcats win, the teams will break and come back onto the ice for an overtime period to decide the series.
