Great weekend for the Sharks, as they swept the first place New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings!
In the first game on Friday, Gustav Martinsson got things started early in the first period after a strong zone entry by Sean Bailey and a nice setup from Brendan Dalton. The Sharks then extended their lead when Caden Shafer buried a rebound, which would stand to be the game winner. Late in the second period, Sean Bailey used his speed to drive the net and poke one past the Jr. Mountain Kings goaltender to add an insurance goal. The Sharks defense and goaltending shut down the Jr. Mountain Kings down in the third period to secure the victory. Nicklas Walker was solid between the pipes and notched his 6th win of the season.
The Saturday matchup was one of the best games the Sharks have played thus far this season. Eli McCarthy opened the scoring in the first period with a quick shot from circle. Sean Bailey added to the Sharks’ lead in the second on the power play ripping one short side. The Sharks kept the pressure on, with Spencer Nicoloff and James Steinberg each finding the back of the net before the period ended. Nicoloff added another power play tally in the third to complete the scoring. It was a complete team effort, strong defense, relentless offense, and Will Zinnen was outstanding in goal, earning his second shutout of the season.
The Sharks are back in action this Wednesday and Thursday as they head to Maine to take on the Nordiques. Puck drop on Wednesday is at 2:00pm and at 2:30pm on Thursday. Catch all the action on NATV.
