The Sharks hosted the Buzz Hockey Club for a pair of weekday games and came away with 4 points.
In Wednesday’s matchup, the Sharks offense exploded! Early in the first, Sam Barnard had a quick little steal and pass to Ryder Pisiak who was able to find the back of the net to get the Sharks on the board. Less than two minutes later, Jack Plummer was in the right place at the right time to capitalize off a rebound that hit the pipe on the power play. Gustav Martinsson added to the Sharks lead with a beautiful snipe over the goalie’s shoulder to send the Sharks into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead. Early in the second, James Steinberg found Sean Bailey all alone who put one five hole on the Buzz tender. Sam Barnard extended the Sharks’ lead when he found his own rebound and put one in on the backhand. Gustav scored his second of the game with a no quit effort in the slot banging in goal number six for the Sharks. Ryder Pisiak scored his second of the game in the third off of a nice steal behind the net by JD DiTommaso for lucky goal number seven. The Sharks defeated the Buzz 7-3.
On Thursday, the Sharks struck first again when Eli McCarthy found a breaking Jack Baker with a centering pass that he shoots past the moving Buzz goalkeeper. The Sharks took their one goal lead into the third when James Steinberg hit Gustav Martinsson with a beautiful cross crease pass that he one timed past the Buzz netminder. The Sharks went on to defeat the Buzz by a score of 2-1.
Thursday’s game was the debut for two newly acquired Sharks: forward, Payton Hauge from the San Diego Sabers of the USPHL and defenseman, Tegan O’Brien of the Wisconsin Woodsman of the NA3HL. Both players were credited each with an assist in their first game as a Shark.
