Ryan Sandberg delivered for his team with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Ryan Gridley had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Craig Garrigan chipped in with 2 assists.
During the first period, Sandberg opened the scoring for the Sharks with a goal at 0:30 with helpers from his linemates, Bergman and Mukovoz. Vanderhoff answered for the Kings with a goal at 6:07 with helpers from his linemates, Garrigan and Andrey. Sandberg answered for Long Beach with a goal at 16:11 with assists from his linemates, Bergman and Mukovoz. O’sullivan answered for Skylands with a goal at 18:16.
During the second period, Gridley answered for the Sharks with a goal at 14:56 with assists from Mukovoz and Bedard.
In the third, Bergman netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 3:08 with helpers from his linemates, Gridley and Sandberg. Landry answered for Skylands with a goal at 19:07 with assists from his linemates, Garrigan and Sizov. Mukovoz quickly followed with a goal at 19:32 with a helper from fellow Sharks forward Gridley.
Long Beach’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Cortez’s big night as he stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced. Cortez’s counterpart, Yttereng, also had a big night, managing to stop 30 of 34, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Long Beach Sharks’ record to (6-39-1-0).
